Cooperative Education Fall 2019

Cooperative Education is a valued part of a London Christian High experience.  Co-ops are where students get work experience out in the community. These experiences have included everything from welding to nursing! Co-ops can be for 2 credits (half days)  or 4 credits (full days) and take place all around South Western Ontario.

Here are two testimonials from students who did co-op in first semester this year:

Interior Design Co-op

I have chosen to work at Casey’s Creative Kitchens in St. Thomas for my Co-op Program this semester.  Casey’s Creative Kitchens is a business specializing in interior design, mainly focusing on kitchens and bathrooms.  I decided to have my co-op placement here because I have an interest in designing and decorating aspects of interior spaces. I have been able to experiment in the design program that Casey’s uses. My favourite part of my co-op experience is when I am able to accompany a designer at the job sites during the installation process.  I also am able to view and learn about various samples of tile, cabinetry, hardware and countertops. I am hoping that through this co-op placement, I will be able to gain more insight about this occupation.

It has been 2 months since I have been working at the daycare. We just had Hallowe’en at the daycare and the babies were so cute in their costumes. We did things like trick or treating around the daycare for stickers, pencils, and mini toys. We are now getting ready for Remembrance Day and have put up a tree with big red snowflakes and ornaments on the tree. I have noticed that before doing Co-op at the daycare, I didn’t have a lot of patience but have realized that I have grown in that area and have a lot more now. I have gotten lots of compliments at the daycare that I have been getting more involved and interacting more with the babies. I also notice that being at Co-op has really helped me have something to look forward to in the morning each day. One of the most fun parts of the job is talking with the staff and playing with the babies.
