If you were to visit a Grade 10 Civics classroom at LCH, you would quickly see that it is anything but disengaging! With talented teachers like Mrs. Laura Miedema at the helm, students become active and engaged citizens who desire to make a difference in our society.
Grade 11 Art students, inspired by the Old East Village mosaics, created their own community art mosaic in their classroom.
For the many children in the Digo community outside Tanga, Tanzania, Africa, the thought of going to school is a fantasy. Their parents, struggling to grow crops to feed the family, have little money to send them to the city school. Our senior Design-Block students are working on a possible solution to this problem - a “Mobile Classroom”.
In grade 9 French we have completed two units of study. The first reviewed the French learned in elementary school as a way to ease students back into the study of a foreign language.
After the first bell goes at 8:55 each morning, grade 9 students start trickling into the Performing Arts Room and find a place to settle in for morning announcements and devotions.
The trip to Growing Chefs was a great experience. We learned about the food production cycle, tried out some plating techniques, and got to make a delicious, healthy meal, made from local ingredients.
Throughout the first month of school, Mrs. Miedema’s grade 9 geography class has been working with the concepts of stewardship, sustainability, and ecological footprints.
Recently, Mrs. MacDouell's Environment and Resource Management class went to the London landfill.
