Recently, Mrs. MacDouell’s Environment and Resource Management class went to the London landfill. At the Landfill site, we looked at their recycling process and learned about the process of sorting and re-selling materials to local and international places for reuse. Students got to see the amount of material recycled here and and also how much more should be brought in for recycling.

We also went to a new business in London called Reimagine Co., where the class discussed the concept of Zero Waste, and what that means to us individually. We learned that there are “’R’s” other than just Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling; Repurpose, Return, Repair, Reimagine, and even Refuse are important to consider. We looked at the impact of waste on our oceans and in our local spaces and discussed how we can practice zero waste at home!
