The English courses at London Christian High recognize that human culture and expression belong to God.

Our English courses encourage students to appreciate and praise God more deeply through the study of literature, composition, and media.

Through studying literature, students investigate some of the great ideas and issues of human history and culture, and increase awareness of how the craftsmanship of the writer explores ideas and issues in an imaginative way. Through studying composition, students appreciate oral and written language as a gift from God and learn that strengthening this skill increases their ability to communicate effectively in all areas of the curriculum as well as in life. Through studying media, students develop skills, understanding, and attitudes necessary to discern versions of constructed reality and judge how language and images are used and misused to transmit ideas.

English as a Second Language courses are also available to guide our English language learners from non-English-speaking countries through their development of foundational English skills in reading, writing, listening, speaking, and social-cultural adjustment.
